Another underestimated everyman (if every man played the tuba) features in MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN. Gary Cooper stars as Longfellow Deeds, a smalltown Vermonter who inherits millions from his uncle. Fending off fortune hunters and crooked lawyers alike, Deeds proves no match for star reporter ‘Babe’ Bennett (Arthur) who gains his confidence and then writes scoffing articles about him… before ultimately realizing that she has fallen deeply in love with the so-called yokel.
