Complete rules and registration info now available »
In the TRAILER SMACKDOWN, single filmmakers or filmmaking teams are invited to create a real preview for an imaginary movie. This year, in honor of the 5th iteration of this competition, BFF is celebrating the sequel. The competitors must make the most compelling trailer possible for the sequel to one of the four previous SMACKDOWN fantasy film projects: MIRANDA, 86 (or EIGHTY-SIX), UNION STREET and LABOR DAY. Filmmakers are welcome to use any variation on the main title as long as it is within a sequel context (i.e. “Return of…”, “Bride of…”, “… Part 6”, etc.
Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a crack team of experts and screened during the Brattle’s annual trailer show, TRAILER TREATS, on Thursday, July 14, 2011. An Audience Award will be voted on that night and the winning team of trailer-makers will receive a cash prize and the admiration of Brattle supporters everywhere! In addition, the winning trailer (and a few runner-ups) will be added to the Brattle’s website and YouTube channel; and will be screened during select summer shows at the Brattle Theatre.
The goal of the Brattle’s TRAILER SMACKDOWN is for teams or individuals to create an original trailer for the as-yet-unmade film sequel. Each filmmaker will be required to incorporate certain elements (genre, location, character, etc.) in their trailer, which can be no longer than 2 minutes. An entry fee of $10 is required to participate and must be received at same time as the submission no later than July 11, 2011. A portion of the entry fee will go towards the cash prize awarded to the winning trailer.
