(2008) dir Atom Egoyan w/David Bostick, Arsinée Khanjian, Scott Speedman [101 min]
Simon (Bostick) is a high school student searching for identity in the age of ubiquitous internet fame. His parents were killed in a car crash and, influenced by his bitter grandfather, Simon blames his father without knowing the true facts. In a video that he posts online, Simon claims that his father was a terrorist who fooled his mother into becoming an unwitting suicide bomber. The resulting fallout entwines Simon, his uncle (Speedman), and his teacher (Khanjian) and allows Egoyan to examine some of his favorite issues of image, identity, façade, fate and reflection.
Don’t miss Atom Egoyan and Arsinée Khanjian, appearing in person at our Saturday screening of ADORATION, and Sunday’s presentation of CALENDAR.
