(1938) dir Alfred Hitchcock w/Margaret Lockwood, Michael Redgrave, Paul Lukas, Dame May Whitty [96 min]
These two delightful early Hitchcock films are both wonderfully breezy espionage stories. In THE LADY VANISHES, a young woman named Iris (Lockwood) meets a seemingly innocent old lady during a train ride. When the lady disappears, however, the other passengers claim that she never existed, much to the consternation of Iris. Determined to prove herself, Iris enlists the aid of a handsome musicologist (Redgrave) and, together, they uncover the secrets of both the lady and the other passengers.
