(2011) dir Bobcat Goldthwait w/Joel Murray, Tara Lynne Barr [100 min]
Frank is fed up. He’s a misanthrope at sea in an America of reality TV stars, selfish neighbors, obnoxious teenagers, and the generally rude, inconsiderate and self-serving. When he is diagnosed with a brain tumor and realizes he has only a short time to live, Frank embarks on a cross-country killing spree targeting the people who threaten the dignity of America. Along the way he picks up a sidekick in the form of spunky, too-smart-for-her-own-good teen Roxy and the two become platonic spree killers of the rude and unkind. Under the guidance of the great Bobcat Goldthwait and with fantastic performances by Murray and Barr, GOD BLESS AMERICA is a hilarious black comedy that culminates in nothing less than a showdown with the country itself on live TV.
