- “In ‘Sleepless Night,’ crime pays (or does it?) in Paris,” by Ty Burr, The Boston Globe
- “Frédéric Jardin’s expert thriller,” by Peter Keough, The Boston Phoenix
(2011) dir Frédéric Jardin w/Tomer Sisley, Serge Riaboukine, Julien Boisselier [89 min]
Set over the course of one night in a massive Parisian nightclub, Frederic Jardin’s SLEEPLESS NIGHT is a smart and endlessly entertaining thriller. Vincent (Sisley) is a well-respected cop and a devoted family man. But, below the surface of his idyllic life, Vincent is involved with a very dangerous group of gangsters and drug dealers. When it’s discovered that he and his partner have stolen a massive quantity of cocaine, Vincent must race against the clock to return the drugs and save his son’s life.
The energy and drive of this film are utterly contagious, making it impossible not to get swept up in Vincent’s dilemma. Filled with fantastic action sequences, strong performances, and a thrilling visual style, Jardin’s film is a thoroughly original crowd-pleaser. – adapted from notes for the Tribeca Film Festival
“If the Oscars added a category for Best Action Movie, [Sleepless Night] would be a shoo-in.” – IFC.com
