- “A Prague Spring wildflower (very wild) blooms at the Brattle,” by Mark Feeney, The Boston Globe
Sedmikrásky (1966) dir Vera Chytilová w/Ivana Karbanová, Jitka Cerhová, Marie Cesková [74 min]
One of the most anarchic films of all time, Vera Chytilová’s absurdist farce follows the misadventures of two brash young women both named Marie. Believing the world to be “spoiled,” the Maries embark on a series of pranks in which nothing – food, clothes, men, war – is taken seriously. An aesthetically and politically adventurous film that’s widely considered one of the great works of feminist cinema, the Brattle is proud to join with Janus Films to present DAISIES in a new 35mm print.
