(2009) dir Sean Byrne w/Robin McLeary, Xavier Samuel, John Brumpton [84 min] Digital presentation
This Australian teen-horror-comedy, one of our favorite films from the Toronto International Film Festival way back in 2009, has finally made its way to the U.S. and we’re excited to screen the Boston premiere as part of our Halloween week activities!
Robin McLeary gives a hell of a performance as Lola, a high school outcast with a major crush on Brent (Samuel). When Brent rebuffs her attempts to invite him to prom, he gets way more than he bargained for as Lola’s father abducts him and prom night becomes a grueling fight for his life. Ridiculously inventive and hilariously thrilling, THE LOVED ONES is a must for anyone who enjoys their black comedy particularly dark and bloody!
Tickets for all CineCache screenings (unless otherwise noted) are $10 for general public/$8 for Brattle and Chlotrudis members. A subscription for the entire program – 7 screenings in all – is $50 for general public / $40 for Brattle and Chlotrudis members.
Additional dates in the series (with titles to be announced) are: November 12, November 26, and December 10.
