Programmed by The Brattle’s Alissa Darsa, this series follows on the heels of our run of the new restoration of THE WAGES OF FEAR, one of cinema’s most affecting experiments in sustained dread, and focuses on films that walk on the same shaky ground. While few of these could be considered horror films, and not all are even thrillers, they still expertly create an atmosphere of dreadful expectation about something terrible happening—whether it’s leading up to an event or pervading the atmosphere after. Prepare to get comfortable on the edge of your seat.
