The Boston Society of Film Critics held their annual awards on Sunday, December 8. Among the honors bestowed to the best films of the year, many organizations and individuals were also celebrated, with The Brattle being recognized for the following:

Best Film Series:

  • “Six Films by Jan Egleson”
  • “Columbia 100: Jean Arthur: Sweetness with Spine”
  • “Hello, I’m Shelley Duvall”

Best Rediscoveries

  • Not a Pretty Picture [1976, Martha Coolidge]
  • Renata and Bad Timing [both 1982, Nancy Savoca]

The BSFC also commended frequent Brattle partners Wicked Queer Film Festival for 40 years of giving voice to the LGBTQ+ community, and Grrl Haus Cinema for 10+ years providing a platform for noncommercial works made by women, non-binary, trans, and genderqueer artists.
