Oscar Sweeps
Fri, Feb 28 – Sun, Mar 2
As we head into Oscar weekend, we take a moment to celebrate the only three films to ever sweep the top five awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and the top acting awards. Jonathan Demme’s indelible thriller THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is the most recent of these ‘sweepers’ and remains the best-known today. Milos Forman’s remarkable ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year!) is an acting tour-de-force from Jack Nicholson as an inmate at the asylum run by the diabolical Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher). IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT is one of Frank Capra’s most all-around enjoyable pictures—a breakneck-paced screwball romance between a runaway heiress and the salt-of-the-earth reporter who tracks her down. Get primed for the Academy Awards with this trio of cinema classics!
Stay tuned for upcoming showtimes!
