Few contemporary filmmakers represent ‘independence’ better than Josh and Benny Safdie, a pair of New York raised, B.U. educated filmmaking brothers who have risen to become the closest thing to indie superstars that the current film industry can produce. In their second feature, DADDY LONGLEGS, the Safdie’s draw on memories of their own childhood to create something like an autobiographical portrait. Divorced dad Lenny (Bronstein) does everything he can to make the few precious days that he gets to spend with his two young sons as magical as possible – sometimes going to dangerous lengths to keep them safe and happy.
