Perhaps the most epically weird of all the Corman-produced films, DEATH RACE 2000 is directed by the often-overlooked satiric genius Paul Bartel (Eating Raoul). Ostensibly about a murderous, futuristic cross-country road race, the film becomes a bonkers fusion of car chase spectacle and political commentary on America’s media obsessed, jingoistic public.
