Bong Joon-Ho’s second feature – long before the idea of being an Oscar-winning director was even possible – is a wonderful mixture of police procedural, serial killer drama, fish-out-of-water story, and buddy film. It follows the efforts of three policemen, two country cops and the brainy, city cop who has arrived to help crack a case, as they try to unravel the mystery of who is abducting and brutally murdering the women of a small town.
