The great Edward G. Robinson plays John Triton, a fraudulent nightclub mentalist who suddenly and unexpectedly becomes actually psychic. Driven to become a hermit when he realizes that his frequently bleak predictions always come true even if he intervenes, Triton eventually is forced back into society when he is plagued by visions of the lovely Jean Courtland (Russell).
