Hepburn’s final Oscar win is for this elegiac family drama about an elderly couple going for what might be their last summer at their New England lake house. Hepburn and Henry Fonda play the couple with Jane Fonda playing their daughter who has a difficult relationship with her father. For those who don’t understand what people mean when they say that they don’t make films the way they used to, it might help to know that this film earned more than $100 million at the box office and was the second highest grossing film of 1981 right below Raiders of the Lost Ark.
