A recluse (Cage), whose only connection to the outside world is the truffle broker that visits him once a week for product, is forced back into society when his beloved foraging pig is stolen. This is not the Nicolas Cage film you might assume it is from that brief description. More existential foodie-neo-noir than ‘John Wick but with a pig,’ the feature directorial debut from Michael Sarnoski casts a real spell with its gloomy Pacific Northwest locations and moody tone. Cage has rarely been better in a remarkably subdued performance that nonetheless makes excellent use of his imposing physicality and the intensity of his presence.

“Quiet, unforced and delicate, Pig provides a forum for Nicolas Cage, one of our most dazzling showmen, to get serious and burrow more deeply into his talent than he has in years.” – Joshua Rothkopf, Empire Magazine
