Dog lives alone in a tiny Manhattan apartment—even the pigeons outside his window are unfriendly—and he’s tired of it. One day he sees an ad on television for a build-it-yourself robot companion and he decides to build himself a buddy. Dog and Robot quickly become inseparable and share many adventures in 1980’s New York City. Until, one fateful summer night, after a day of fun at the beach, Dog is tragically forced to abandon Robot. Will they ever meet again and, if so, can they recreate what they once had? This hand-drawn animated film based on the 2007 graphic novel from Sara Varon is joyous, beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful in equal measure.
