A slasher film directed by a woman was (and still is) a real rarity, so you have to hand it to Corman, he produced several, including the weirdly off-kilter SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE. Though originally intended as a full-on parody (written by feminist icon Rita Mae Brown no less), it was instead shot (sort-of) straight.
