The always engaging Sydney Greenstreet plays Superintendent Grodman, a respected Scotland Yard detective who is disgraced when an innocent man is executed. Seeking to restore his reputation, Grodman follows an unorthodox path to knock his successor down a few pegs with the aid of his macabre artist friend (Lorre).
