In the late 1800s, a newly married woman (Gerard) moves to an isolated tract of land in New Mexico with her husband in the hopes of establishing a new life. After another couple moves nearby, however, she begins to experience a terrifying, unseen presence. Drawing on actual accounts of ‘prairie madness’ in which women were driven insane by the relentless isolation of frontier life, THE WIND is a gorgeously composed example of American folk horror.
