Post-Film Discussion with Producer Mars Verrone and Film Participant Natalie Monarrez moderated by Boston Globe reporter Katie Johnston

On April 1, 2022, a group of ordinary workers made history when they successfully won their election to become the very first unionized Amazon workplace in America. Heralded as the most important win for labor since the 1930s, the Amazon Labor Union (ALU) accomplished this with no prior organizing experience and no institutional backing, crowd-funded entirely through GoFundMe., Winner of a Special Jury Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, UNION captures the ALU’s historic grassroots campaign to unionize thousands of their co-workers. In the face of a monumental challenge (and massive challenger) taking on the world’s second-largest company, the organizers remained unswayed in their beliefs in collective action and the dignity and power of the working-class.
