Proving once again that truth is often stranger than fiction, WHATEVER IT TAKES tells the unfathomable true story of Ina and David Steiner, two Massachusetts-based journalists targeted during one of the most extraordinary and bizarre scandals in recent memory. While covering eBay and the e-commerce beat in the summer of 2019, the Steiners suddenly found themselves enduring cyberstalking threats and bizarre deliveries including a bloody pig mask and funeral wreath at their doorstep. Amidst intensifying harassment, the police and FBI ultimately closed in on a Silicon Valley giant and some very unlikely suspects. This timely, true crime caper contemplates dysfunction, capitalism, and the disintegration of ethics, while rooting for the unsuspecting yet quietly resilient local journalists whose lives are changed forever.
