The Brattle is devastated to announce that our longtime head projectionist, Dave Leamon, unexpectedly passed away this week. Many of you probably knew Dave or saw the fruits of his labor on screen as he strived to give everyone the best movie-going experience that he could.
Dave was the longest running member of The Brattle crew, starting back in the 1980s, and was an integral part of what makes this cinema a special place. Quite simply, The Brattle will not be the same without him.
We especially send our love out to his family. As devastated as we are, we know that pales in comparison to the grief they are experiencing. Dave shined his light on so many and we are better for having known him. He will be deeply missed but we wanted to take this moment to celebrate him and how great he was. We respect his family’s privacy at this time and share with you their hope that, in lieu of flowers, you might be moved to treat someone to the movies in Dave’s honor.
