IB Technicolor Print!

Before Star Wars made him a cinematic legend, George Lucas created another popular coming-of-age film… though this one doesn’t take place in a galaxy far, far away. In 1962, a group of teenage friends spend the night after high school graduation cruising around their California hometown before heading off in different directions.

We are pleased to be able to screen this classic from a privately owned I.B. Technicolor print. There is something magical about the saturated colors of a true Technicolor print that is impossible to describe—you have to see it to understand it. This unique manner of processing photochemical color film is now impossible to recreate, and the prints are so rare that they are generally not provided by studios for public screenings. The few precious prints that remain in private hands are really the only way to see some of the most gorgeous color images ever projected.
