BAMBI is the coming-of-age story for a young deer who learns about death at an early age when his mother is killed by a human hunter. He also finds the solace of friendship with Thumper the rabbit, Flower the skunk, and the other animals of the forest. A source of kindertrauma for generations of moviegoers, BAMBI may be remembered as a tragic film but it is, ultimately, about rebirth and the inevitable return of springtime.
