Easy Living

Opens on June 7

Director: Mitchell Leisen Run Time: 88 min. Format: 35mm Film Release Year: 1937

Starring: Edward Arnold, Franklin Pangborn, Jean Arthur, Mary Nash, Ray Milland

A filthy rich banker (Arnold) tosses his free-spending wife’s new fur coat off of his penthouse roof and it lands on the head of Mary Smith (Arthur), a no-nonsense working woman. When Mary tries to return the coat, she is mistaken for the banker’s mistress and, of course, hilarity ensues. The highlight of this sprightly romantic comedy—aside from the respective charms of its three leads and a clever script from Preston Sturges—is the mid-movie centerpiece of comedic insanity that takes place at a busy automat restaurant.

Double Feature with THE AUTOMAT
