Harkening back to the same adventure movie serials as RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, this Dino De Laurentiis production hoped that the all-American Flash Gordon would become a new matinee idol. Unfortunately, the deliberately camp tone and oddball casting choices were made more for a future cult classic than a contemporary blockbuster.
