Chicago natives Lilly and Lana Wachowski cook up a potent mix of sci-fi and melodrama in this bonkers space epic that begins with a Chicago housecleaner (Kunis) discovering she is somehow part of a universe-spanning conspiracy—and ends with a showdown within Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. Meanwhile, Channing Tatum plays a genetically mutated dog-soldier, and Eddie Redmayne absolutely consumes the scenery as a power-mad galactic royal.
