In John Dahl’s nasty little neo-noir, Kilmer stars as Jack Andrews, a private detective who thinks he’s doing the right thing when he helps the beautiful and desperate Fay (Whalley) escape her supposedly abusive boyfriend by faking her death. When she skips town with half his fee, however, it is revealed that Fay is nowhere near as innocent as she pretended, and things are about to get a whole lot tougher for Jack.
