A misfit pair of misfit pair movies celebrating significant anniversaries this year with Wim Wenders’ KINGS OF THE ROAD and Terry Zwigoff’s GHOST WORLD—both examining the ephemeral nature of friendship. In KINGS OF THE ROAD, a traveling film projector repairman (Vogler) meets an apparently suicidal man (Zischler) and, for a time they journey together. A slim premise for a 3-hour movie, but Wenders’ deft direction, the always gorgeous cinematography of Robby Müller, and the endlessly charming Vogler make it a trip worth taking.
