For this inaugural event in the FREEDOM OF SPEECH FILM FESTIVAL, we highlight the tumultuous life of Lenny Bruce with a screening of Bob Fosse’s acclaimed, multiple-Oscar-nominated biopic, LENNY, starring Dustin Hoffman as the legendary, hilarious, and controversial stand-up comedian.
This screening will be accompanied by a post-film conversation between FIRE’s chief counsel Robert Corn-Revere, who was instrumental in securing Bruce a posthumous pardon for his 1964 conviction on obscenity charges, and Ronald Collins, author of The Trials of Lenny Bruce and a member of FIRE’s Advisory Counsel.
