In this dramedy based on David Seals’ novel, Buddy Red Bow (Martinez), a practical-minded activist, is struggling against greedy developers on the Montana Cheyenne Reservation. Philbert (Farmer), a childhood friend of Buddy’s, is a dreamer who ardently pursues Native American/First Nation wisdom and lore wherever he can find it—even on Bonanza. When Buddy’s sister is arrested in Santa Fe, the mismatched pair set off on a road trip to go bail her out. As the miles roll by, Philbert’s faith—which often involves pitstops to honor their ancestors—challenges Buddy’s cynical view of the world, and together they face the realities and dreams of being Cheyenne in the modern-day US. Brattle debut!
