Premiere Run

In a remote Arctic community, a group of Inuit girls witness the beginning of an alien invasion when they run across a weirdly animated polar bear. Unfortunately for the aliens, the girls from Pang are not to be trifled with. They know their horror movies, they have great hunting skills, and, despite the usual teenage drama, they stick together.

The script for the film was developed over months of workshops with the teen residents of Pangnirtung, and it shows. The representation of the girls is wonderfully authentic as they sweat over making it to the coolest party in town and who might make a connection with the town’s young heartthrob even while horrifying flesh puppet monsters are gathering against them. Director Nyla Innuksuk draws inspiration from 80s teen films and slashers, as well as sci-fi classics like John Carpenter’s The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, to create a unique, vivid, and thrillingly original new film.
