Soon after publishing the Harvey Weinstein story, three journalists at The New York Times wrote about another open secret: A-list comedian Louis C.K. had been masturbating in front of women comedians for years with little notice. The victims confided in others about his heinous behavior, but also understood the risk of career repercussions given his position and influence in the male-dominated comedy world. Six years later, SORRY/NOT SORRY provides these women an overdue opportunity to describe how they were victimized by Louis C.K., and the intense backlash they received once the initial story broke while also outlining his quick comeback. Caroline Suh and Cara Mones’ film deftly raises questions about sex and power in the workplace, who gets to take the stage, and challenges our own belief systems.

Post-Film Discussion with Filmmaker Cara Mones moderated by the Globe’s Natalia Winkelman.
