Nothing short of a living cartoon, the Wachowskis’ SPEED RACER is an action-packed adaptation of the famous ‘60s manga and anime series. Emile Hirsch stars as Speed, an adventurous race car driver who fights to preserve the art of racing in the face of corporate interference and corruption. Filled with candy-colored, kaleidoscopic visuals, its full-on devotion to the aesthetic of the original material was a little too much for reviewers upon its release, but the film has since gained a reputation as being ahead of its time.
