Supercentenarians seize the spotlight in Academy Award-nominated documentarian Sam Green’s decade-long global odyssey to chronicle the ever-changing title holders of “oldest person alive.” As the distinction inevitably cedes from one titleholder to the next, Green keeps pace with each pass of the torch, while his personal fascination in the topic entangles with significant milestones and challenging life events of his own. What starts as a portrait of longevity unfolds into a poignant meditation on the passage of time, the happenstance of fate, and the joy and profundity of being human—and experiencing life.

“Charming and often moving,” declared The New York Times. “It’s the kind of essay film that Green is especially skilled at.”
