35mm Screening!
The most well-known (and thoroughly parodied) Bergman film remains an emotionally affecting and starkly beautiful rumination on the presence of death in our lives. A knight on the way home from the Crusades amid the ravages of the plague, encounters the personification of Death and challenges him to a chess match believing that he can extend his life and perhaps even cheat Death if he wins.
