Gerwig says UMBRELLAS was a major stylistic inspiration for Barbie, citing “the use of color and the surrealness… that layering of the colors… Everything feels painterly.” Not to mention Margot Robbie’s hairstyles pay homage to Catherine Deneuve’s iconic looks throughout the film.
