Completing the landmark labor rights trilogy that includes the Academy Award-winning cinéma vérité documentaries Harlan County USA and American Dream, Barbara Kopple’s UNION TOWN chronicles essential workers in NYC’s last-mile delivery industry amid an explosive resurgence of organized labor. Interweaving struggles within UPS, Amazon, and the mostly immigrant app-based bike delivery workforce, the urgent and hopeful new film weaves together human stories from some of the modern faces of labor and organizing. Filmed over three years with incredible access, UNION TOWN asks what solidarity means in a world divided between those who have power and those left fighting for it.
