This underseen gem from director Martha Coolidge and novelist/screenwriter Calder Willingham stars Laura Dern (in an Oscar nominated role) as the wayward, promiscuous Rose, a teenager taken in by an eccentric Southern family to save her from a life of prostitution. Rose causes seemingly perpetual disruption with her wanton ways but, ultimately, she finds her place in the family when they begin to understand her reasons and admire her character. Brattle Debut!
