Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson star in this beautifully shot film set in 1930s Harlem. The two are high school friends getting to know each other again after living very different lives for many years. The film’s finale is set at a Christmas party where the season’s cheer is juxtaposed against the tension built up throughout the film as these two women grapple with their choices.
