Though Dashiell Hammett’s hardboiled fiction looms large over genre, only two of his novels were officially adapted during the classic film noir period: THE MALTESE FALCON and THE GLASS KEY. In this seminal film, Alan Ladd plays the loyal assistant of a corrupt politician. Naturally, murder, frame-ups, and cover-ups follow.
Friday: Double feature with THE MALTESE FALCON
This program is funded in part by The Brattle’s 35mm Film Fund. Donations to this fund maintain our film projection equipment, train future projectionists, and ensure that The Brattle will be able to continue 35mm screenings well into the future.
