Families Are Hell Double Feature • 35mm Screenings!
Brandon Quintin Adams plays “Fool”, an African American kid desperate for money to help his sick mom is convinced to help break into the house of the local slumlords, The Robesons. Predictably, the robbery goes wrong, and Fool finds himself trapped in the hellish, labyrinthine Robeson house where he discovers a pack of cannibalistic feral children locked in the basement, as well as unexpected allies, as he desperately tries to evade the viciously bonkers owners of the house. Misunderstood upon its release, Wes Craven’s horrific satire of the legacy of Reagan’s America (the Robesons perversely call each other as “Mommy” and “Daddy”) and the advent of late-stage capitalism holds up remarkably well.
